Feedback about MBIR™

“I feel (Mindfulness Based Inner RePatterning™) could shake the therapeutic world up if it catches on, and I do not say that lightly. I have used the technique with clients, and the results are proving very positive. I work across all disorders; however, I have a particular interest in working with PTSD and, in particular, complex PTSD.

I also work extensively with Personality Disorder (PD) and this technique is proving brilliant for these conditions. It is a simple technique, and the beauty lies in a number of its facets. It is calming because of its mindfulness base which also means it is in the moment. It does not require specific detail or demand a story (which in PTSD) is at times vital especially earlier on in treatment. It embraces the client’s issues and gives the client the autonomy to process and experience the issues on their terms.

It works on many levels simultaneously but crucially in a measured way. I would without hesitation recommend Mindfulness Based Inner RePatterning™ to all therapists because this modality has much to offer, and I for one have already started to embed this technique in my practice. This modality answers many needs that we as therapists may be presented with. It works on their breathing, imagery, cognitions, behaviors and emotions and does so gently. It is focused on addressing any issue including significant emotions such as shame so to me this approach is exciting.

As an accredited and registered eating disorders therapist, I am truly excited in how this technique could help the patients that I work with whom live with an eating disorder. I also see real potential in incorporating this in play therapy because it’s use of colour. I feel could compliment play therapy, and I will be looking at ways of blending the two into my work.

If I could say one last thing about Mindfulness Based Inner RePatterning™ it would be that it should be mandatory training for therapists because this approach has much to offer on many levels”.

What is MBIR™

MBIR™ is a stand alone therapy that does not require prior knowledge of other techniques in order to use it. It is an approach that combines the power of energy therapy (tapping), NLP and mindfulness into one simple to use process.

MBIR™ is a tapping energy therapy which was inspired by EFT, Emotional Freedom techniques. EFT is often described as a psychological form of acupressure but without needles. This same definition could be applied to MBIR™. It is however substantially different from EFT.

MBIR™ also is based on ancient knowledge about healing processes. It uses elements of mindfulness and simple but powerful language models in order to communicate directly with the sub conscious mind giving clear instructions that bypass resistance.

Why Use MBIR™? Because:

  • You do not need to analyze or understand a problem in order to work on it.
  • You don’t have to talk about the problem and discuss past events. Because of this it opens up this therapy to a much larger group of people who might otherwise have struggled finding words to represent what they are experiencing.
  • It does not require a person to re-experience the memories and emotions linked to their problem in order to work on their problem
  • It can be a very gentle way of working with problems and therefore emotionally safe for the client
  • It can be used as a self help technique
  • It can be a rapid technique at getting results
  • It can often get results when other techniques do not because it uses the mind-body’s own healing mechanism
  • It is versatile and has been used with adults teens and children
  • Most people find it gentle to use and as a consequence there is less drop out from therapy
  • Because it often feels good to use the technique, clients tend to like it and stay the course for success
  • It can be used with complex problems
  • It can be used with groups

Supporting the Body’s Self Healing Mechanisms

The mind-body system has tremendous self healing capabilities. If you cut your hand, you do not need to understand, why you cut your hand in order to heal it. For most people all they have to do is support the body’s natural self healing mechanisms by cleaning the cut and letting the body do what it knows how to do. It is the same with emotional healing. MBIR™ supports the body’s natural healing mechanisms by helping the client access a repair and regeneration mode, operating and maintaining a sense of safety whilst setting an intention (instruction) for healing and then guiding the client through a simple step by step process.

Uses of MBIR™

MBIR has been used on a wide range of issues. This range is constantly expanding since MBIR™ is still a relatively new technique and as such should be regarded as still being in development. The issues in which MBIR™ has been used include:

  • Bereavement
  • Sleep problems
  • Complex abuse
  • PTSD
  • Anger Management
  • Limiting Beliefs
  • Relationship issues,
  • Self esteem problems
  • Pain
  • ADHD
  • Grief
  • Loss
  • Sleep issues etc.
  • Law of Attraction

With MBIR™ we take the client through a step by step low intervention process in order to turn off the fight or flight stress response. In the stress response repair and regeneration of the mind and body is switched off or minimised because all of the client’s energy is being diverted to survival mode. The client is guided into the growth, repair and regeneration mode of operating. As the client enters this state they often begin to feel more relaxed and at ease. This stage of the process is very powerful when it comes to working with disease. In and of itself this stage of the MBIR™ process is a powerful healing technique that can be used by itself to rebalance the client at the end of a session. It can also be set as homework for the client to begin to train their mind-body system back into a healthier and more balanced state of functioning.

After turning off the fight or flight mode of operating we guide the client through the MBIR™ intervention stage. There are several simple techniques that are used during this stage of the process.

This is an intensive two day training course which is full of practical exercises and demonstrations of the approach.

The content includes:

  • The science behind MBIR™
  • Polyvagal theory and Robert Scaer’s Trauma Model and how it applies to MBIR™
  • The body’s natural healing mechanisms and how they apply to emotional and physical health
  • What is mindfulness and how it is used in MBIR™
  • The power of pure awareness
  • The importance of peripheral vision (learning state/ hakalau)
  • Why you don’t need to analyse or understand “the problem” in order to resolve it
  • The MBIR™ Basic Sequence
  • The power of setting intentions
  • The integration of energy therapy (tapping techniques), mindfulness and NLP
  • The use of colour in MBIR™
